First off, I should start by mentioning that our main goal in life right now is to get back on the road as soon as we possibly can. We miss it dearly. We miss it so much it makes our little toes hurt.
With that disclaimer out of the way, lets get to the announcement! Brandon and I were lucky enough to have purchased this amazing 1875 farmhouse from my grandfather. It’s the home he grew up in and that my aunt, uncles and mom spent their childhood visiting. It’s in the perfect little neighborhood right on the outskirts of downtown Waco. Y’all, this is house is stunning and we are bringing her back to life as quick as we can!
I know, you are asking yourself, how can you get back on the road if you just keeping buying homes? Well, let me explain.
One thing I missed while we were traveling around was having a home base. Somewhere we could come home to, visit friends/family, do some laundry and just hangout. I guess that isn’t called full time travel? Okay, so lets say we want to part time travel. Anyway, it doesn’t make any financial sense to leave any of our Austin properties vacant just so we can come lounge around for a month or so then hit the road again.
It does, however, make sense to have a home base in Waco. You see, this adorable house has a garage apartment that we can either rent out to a full time tenant OR if we really are nuts (which we are) we could rent out the main house and live in the garage apartment when we are home. Either way, we have options which is something I love.
In true Liz and Brandon fashion, we have created a blog and Instagram for everyone to follow along with while we bring this beautiful home back to life. So go check it out and follow us on Instagram!
We’ve already made a ton of progress in the two weeks we’ve owned the home so if we keep up the pace, which I sure hope we will, we should have a finished product in no time!
Another fun aspect to this project is that my dad is our general contractor. Well, I think it’s fun, he might have another word for it. In the last few weeks, he has given us some great advice, the kind you can’t find on Google, and keeps a watch on the property while we are back in Austin.
