It has been a little over a month since we’ve last updated you all on the progress of our cute little vintage Airstream. We are happy to report that we’ve neared completion and she is ready for a new home!
Just kidding. Brandon won’t let me sell her. Instead, he is wanting to sell our big, beautiful, fully functioning 2012 Airstream and live in this thing. I MARRIED A CRAZY PERSON.
Instead of putting in a dinette, we installed a desk type set up. While those chairs might not look super comfortable, they actually are and BONUS, there is a foot rest under the table! This table also allows for more counter space when needed.
You can see that we’ve added an accordion door as the bathroom door. I was pretty dead set on making the bathroom door more of a “barn door” style door, but after walking through the logistics it just wasn’t going to work. For one, it would be way too heavy for what the Airstream interior walls could handle.
Brandon and I spent some time discussing where the stove top should go. He was very adamant it needed to go to the left of the kitchen sink since that is where the vent hood would go. I had a very hard time trying to convince him we didn’t need a vent hood. He finally realized I was right and installed the stove top to the right of the sink.
You see, if we had installed it to the left of the sink we would have wasted perfectly good drawer space. Instead, relocating it to the right of the sink means that we are utilizing a space above the refrigerator that was pretty much “dead space”.
I bought this super cute wallpaper to put on the front of the refrigerator and a few other places around the Airstream. Wallpaper is a nightmare. I am embarrassed by the number of times I had to pull off what I thought was a good wallpaper job only have to redo it. Over and over and over again.
The only thing left to do is make her super shiny again!
P.s. I will sell her to anyone interested, I just have to do it between the hours of 9am to 5pm. He will never notice her missing!
